Aragorn is my first shepherd and my introduction to schutzhund. He was very forgiving of my mistakes and always ready to go. I learned a lot from him, and our scores were not always consistent along the way. He was quite confident with high drives to match. Aragorn was also eager to please even though we didn't always agree on when he needs his ball. He always had a full, calm grip in protection and a deep nose in tracking. His reward wasn't winning the sleeve, it was the fight with the helper. Just for fun, I worked him in agility, skijoring, and tending style herding. I decided to retire him from schutzhund at 9 years old and also did AKC obedience and Rally titles. He was a great dog and enjoyed active retirement training helpers. He was one of the most solid temperamented dogs I have ever known. Nothing phased this dog. May there be many more like him.
I sadly and suddenly lost Aragorn to hemangiosarcoma. He was diagnosed on Monday afternoon from a sudden distended abdomen. We had the emergency surgery, but he passed away in my arms Wednesday morning with no chance to go to the emergency vet. I will always miss my sweet boy.
